Sisters

Last night I got a surprise visit from my two sister friends. I met one while walking by Lake Irma with Gizzy about a year ago and we seem to hit it off right away. We became instant friends. She was married to a German man for 30 years who died a few years ago. Not much later, I met her sister while shopping at a road side vegetable stand and she's just as nice. They both are very talented. Arlene (the lady I met first) plays five instruments. She fixed an upright piano she got for $10. She took it apart and fixed all the strings - or whateve it's called - and now it plays just fine. She does woodworking. She has a little shed with all sorts of tools and makes wooden treasure chests in various sizes using recycled wood and carpeting remnants (for the inside lining) that she gets from an upholstery shop. One day I have to show you her work. The first time I visited her, she played some of her instruments for me. Besides the upright piano, she has a violin, accordeon, guitar and a zither (tableharp) that she played for me. I was very impressed! She also paints.

(Gizzy asked for a lift up on the couch to sit next to her - he likes Arlene because he goes to visit her when mommy needs more well water.)

Gizzy loves to go over to Arlene's because she lives on two acres where he can roam around without a leash - yet, the first thing he does is climb, no run, up her porch (nearly stumbling on the steps with his 3" legs) to press on straight towards the front door. We always have to laugh at him how determined he is to be the first one to get inside to check things out. Kind of like, he's the man and it's his job to check the premises for safety reasons. He only wants to be outside when we're out there and then just to lie on the deck to listen to us talk.

I also got a snap shot of Marcia last night, who is a piano teacher and does various arts and crafts as well.

Marcia shares her big house with 10 cats that were either abandoned (dumped) or just showed up on her door step. I guess word gets out in the cat population that "here lives a big softie who can't say no to kitty cats." I'm taking Marcia to the hospital next Wednesday for her cataract surgery and on Thursday for her follow up appointment with her doc. While she's recouperating, I offered to help her with her cats, i.e. litter boxes, because she is not allowed under any circumstances to bent over, nor get any of that litter dust into her eye. So, between me and one of her other friends, we'll pull litter box duty for a while.

I have to see the allergist doctor again on Monday morning for an Asthma test. Meanwhile she told me the marks on my body are most likely caused by my Hep. C condition. Apparently it's caused by little blood vessels under the skin and it's nothing to worry about (her words.) I'm always concerned about infection because of my hip implants.

On another note, I'm joining a Sorority and you are all invited. I always tell my friends about the nice people I met on my blog and how I view all of you as my extended family. Heck, I talk to you guys more than my own family and feel like we know each other pretty well. Plus we have so much in common and I thank God every day for my computer and the Internet to allow me to communicate and interact with my blogging sisters.

So, when the opportunity arose to join the Bloggerette Sorority, I wanted to join and I hope some of you will too. It sounds like fun. If you are interested, you must visit Karen at

to learn about the initiation project that has to be completed between now and  June 25th, 2010.

I understand that many of you can't join, but it would be nice to see some familiar faces. I normally would not do this either, but I like the name and what it represents, because I feel very strongly about my blogging sisterhood.
