Happy Birthday Gizzy and welcome November!

Today was an absolutely beautiful day. It felt as though it was a day in Spring. In honor of my Gizzy's 12th Birthday, I planned a special day for the two of us and I hope you have a little time to look at some photos with me. I started the day by driving to Roquemore Park where the grass was green, the flowers were blooming and the sky looked oh, so blue... a perfect place to celebrate life! Here's Gizzy doing his Birthday Swing:
(the things we do for love) To recover from that ordeal, a nice relaxing game of "rolling the acorn." ok, that's enough, time for lunch! So, we drive through Gizzy's favorite burger joint (ok, it's the only one in town) for a kiddy burger, plain, hold the bun... Assuming his customary "drive-through stance" he is waiting intensely for his brown paper bag containing his burger! And now, off to Valdosta to go to PetSmart to redeem Gizzy's $10 gift certificate that he won at the Honey Bee Festival for placing 3rd in the Dog Costume Contest. He's in the basket and ready to shop! Sniffing this ... ...and sniffing that! Woa, SANTA! (mom always makes me try on the garments) (mmmm, being an elf might not be so bad) ok, that'll be good for my sister, Middi, the cat! After the shopping was done, with $1.83 to spare, we are on our way back home and pass some cotton fields. I'm showing these pictures to my Hooker friends so they can see how our crocheted wash cloths start out ;-) Cotton fields are on both sides of the road...everywhere! I just had to get out to get some close ups. Being from Germany and having lived mostly in California all my "American" life, this view is not exactly very familiar to me. Gizzy urging me to "come on." Heading home, we pass Bank's Lake National Wildlife Reserve and I'm taking some photos from the roadside. There was beauty in every direction. I honestly did not know when to stop photographing! The sun was playing peek-a-boo with the clouds, making for very interesting views. Once inside the Refuge, we sat at our usual picnic table and watched people as they fished, boated or kayaked or canoed. Riding home, we passed our familiar stomping ground, Lake Irma, and I let Gizzy do what dogs love to do...I let him stick his head out the open window! When we got home, Gizzy and Middi had their special food and treats and now Gizzy's in his bed, satisfied and undoubtedly having sweet dreams of a nice day. Oh, by the way, our family grew. I couldn't resist buying three 13 cents itty, bitty, tiny feeder goldfish. I have this small tank that's been sitting around empty since the Betta fish died, so I decided to get these guys and save them from being eaten. They can stay here till they get too big. After that, my friend will take them to put in her Koi pond in her garden. Meet the triplets: Huey, Dewey and Louie: Right now they're just in a big glass vase, but as soon as I clean the tank, they're going in. The tank has gravel, a pump and some artificial plants to hide, so they should like it better than the cramped pet shop tank. Thanks for spending the day with us.
